Former cricket star Imran Khan officially becomes the 22nd Prime Minister of Pakistan

Imran Khan has taken oath as the Prime Minister of Pakistan in a very precise, politically knitted ceremony that took place at the President House in Islamabad, Pakistan.

The President of Pakistan, Mamnoon Hussain, administered the oath and Khan was declared the 22nd Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) managed to bag 172 votes from the newly elected parliamentarians. The former cricketing sensation and world cup winner has finally added another historic credential with his name, i.e., the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

The oath taking ceremony took place on a crisp, sunny morning in the Capital city of Pakistan,  It was due to start at 9:30 a.m. but started somewhere near 10 a.m. The ceremony started off with the national anthem, followed by a recitation from the Holy Quran.

It was attended by many high-profile guests, including caretaker Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk, Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan and Navy Chief Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi along with other military personnel’s.

Members of the parliament were also present and a great number of Khan’s own political party were there to celebrate their leader’s oath taking ceremony. Among non-political personalities, a few cricket legends were present.

Former cricket star of the Indian cricket team, Navjod Singh Sindhu, also came all the way from India to celebrate his former fellow cricketers historic moment. “I have come here not as a politician but as a friend,” Navjot Sidhu, 54, said while giving an interview to the media personnel.

After taking oath as premier, Khan and First Lady Bushra Imran greeted various guests and accepted their heartfelt greetings. Not to forget, this was the First Lady’s first public appearance ever since her marriage to the Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Soon after the oath taking, an official notification was issued by the Cabinet informing that Imran Khan Niazi has indeed entered the office as the Prime Minster of Pakistan.
