Former Miss Great Britain and Love Island 2016 star, Sophie Gradon, passes away aged 32

On June 20, Sophie Gradon, a beauty pageant champion and contestant on the British reality show Love Island, passed away at the age of 32.

According to the Northumbria Police, Sophie was found dead at her parents’ house near Newcastle. The police approached the deceased and stated that the body was found “[a]t about 8.27pm yesterday (20 June)…”

The police further added that the death does not appear to have been a murder. They said, “There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding her death. A report will now be prepared for the coroner.”

The 32-year-old, who claimed she had ‘sold her soul to reality TV’, shared messages related to online bullying and her mental health struggles.

The next day, Aaron Armstrong, Sophie’s boyfriend, shared a photo on his Facebook account, which broadcast the death of the beauty pageant worldwide. It was a beautiful picture of the couple, where Aaron and Sophie were both smiling radiantly while looking into the camera.

Aaron captioned the photo as a tribute to her, “I will never forget that smile I love you so so much baby your my world forever ever and always.”

Ashley Lenco, Sophie’s ex-boyfriend, also posted a status on his Facebook page to pay tribute to her.

He wrote, “I just genuinely can’t believe it, Iv never felt so strongly for someone else in my life apart from family we was intense and close and madly in love. but if people can stop asking me. i only wanna speak to people who care about me and who cared about her. rip.”

Miss Great Britain, the oldest female beauty pageant show, posted to Twitter to send condolences to her family.

The tweet read, “Shocked beyond belief!!! RIP @sophiegradon sending all our love to Sophie’s family at this incredibly sad time.”

In 2009, Sophie won the Miss Great Britain title. In 2016, the former Miss Great Britain took part in the second series of Love Island and starred as the show’s first same-sex couple.

Just before her death, the couple returned from their holiday in a resort town in France. They even celebrated Aaron’s birthday there.

She also posted a picture of him on Facebook and captioned it with, “Happy Birthday to my sidekick & partner in crime. Here’s to laughing so hard that we piss ourselves & creating more PURELY LEATHAL memories together.”

Sophie described her holiday on Facebook and described it as ‘magical’. She said, “Having a magical time… first time in Antibes and I’m blown away by the beauty of the place.”

She also posted a picture where she was ‘chilling’ in the southern side of France. She asked everyone in her caption, “How’s everyone finding the new love island??? I can’t wait to catch up on all the goings on over the past week, I need updated!!! Who’s your fave??? [Sic]”
