Charlotte Thomson belongs to Newcastle. At the age of 19, she experienced some stomach pains and went into the ER, believing she was having terrible periods cramps. However, she had no idea she was pregnant, as she was having regular periods and could still squeeze into her figure-hugging dresses!

She talked about how she woke up at 2:30am at night with excruciating stomach pains. She took some paracetamol and hoped for the pain to subside, but it just kept getting worse.

“An hour later I felt like I was going to be sick so I ran to the toilet and saw that my underwear was full of blood. I had just finished my period so I was really scared,” she described.

That’s when she rushed to the hospital. There, doctors told her she was in labor!

“A doctor told me that they needed to chat to a midwife – I was really shocked because I knew I wasn’t pregnant. I told them that there had to be a mistake. My belly was completely flat,” she recalled.

However, ten minutes later, a midwife performed an ultrasound on Charlotte’s stomach and gave her some surprising news; she was nine months pregnant and was about to give birth right at that moment.

Only three hours later, she had given birth to a baby girl, Molly, weighing 6lb 15oz. Surprisingly, doctors revealed that Molly was healthy, despite mum Charlotte drinking throughout her pregnancy.

Doctors then explained that Charlotte didn’t have a baby bump because Molly had been tucked up underneath her ribs.

Charlotte, a nursery nurse, recently talked about the incident, “My stomach was completely flat, and I’d been having regular periods so it was such a shock when I found out!”

“I didn’t believe that I was actually pregnant until I gave birth. It was scary becoming a first-time mum with no warning,” she added, talking about her experience at the hospital.

Charlotte also talked about how she panicked at first, since she was not prepared to be a mother, and none of her family were present.

“I panicked that I wasn’t prepared and hadn’t bought any baby clothes. I was so worried about what my parents would say when they found out that I was having a baby.”

At 4.30am, a nurse called Charlotte’s parents, Lynne Thomson, 50, a domestic cleaner, and Vincent Thomson, 50, an engineer, to reveal that Charlotte was pregnant. The couple initially thought their daughter was only a few weeks along and was having a miscarriage. Luckily for Charlotte, they were very supportive when they discovered what had happened.

“They were really supportive and excited about their first grandchild,” Charlotte said.

Charlotte does not regret the birth at all; she absolutely loves her daughter, who is now two years old. In fact, she says she loved Molly from the second she held her. The mother-daughter duo bonded instantly.

“I wouldn’t change Molly for the world, and I feel so lucky,” she said.

Fortunately for the mother, she didn’t have to lose any baby weight – because she didn’t have any!

“Luckily I’m still a size 8 and didn’t need to lose any baby weight,” she said.

She also spoke about the father of the baby, who is an ex and is no longer in the picture. However, she has plenty of help from her family and doesn’t feel like she needs additional support.

She says she formed a bond with her daughter the second she held her, even though she never expected her. (Source: HotSpot Media)

The mother also talked about how her lifestyle has changed since the surprise birth of her daughter. She isn’t a ‘party animal’ anymore, but says it’s all worth it. As for the baby’s future, Charlotte isn’t really worried about motherhood; there is probably nothing she can ever do that will be more surprising than her birth!

“Nothing Molly could ever do in the future would surprise me as much as the day she was born!”

Wow. Every time I hear one of these stories it amazes me. It just seems like there has to be some sign other than lack of periods and weight gain to indicate pregnancy. What about enlarged or sore breasts, cravings, changes in energy levels, some kind of mood flucuation, changes in sleep patterns, unexplained body aches? I mean really?
