The French First Lady, 65, recently visited America with her husband, President Emmanuel Macron, 40. Her and Melania Trump became friends during the visit to Washington and ‘laughed a lot together’. The French First Lady reportedly told French newspaper, Le Monde, that her counterpart was much more constrained in her role than she is. Apparently she could not even open a window at her will and would be asked to close it by security services.

Brigitte Macron also added that Melania was not even allowed to ‘put a foot outside’ the White House, whereas as she herself goes out every day in Paris. She told the French press that Melania Trump is ‘really fun’ and the two share a sense of humour. The French First Lady went on to reveal that Melania ‘laughs very easily at everything, but she shows it less than I do.’

President Macron’s wife criticised that ‘everything is interpreted, over-interpreted. She’s someone who has a strong personality but she makes an effort to hide it.’ She admitted that she too had to adjust to life as the First Lady but that she managed to take out brief moments of normalcy in the midst of all the control.

The French First Lady was clearly a fan of Melania Trump as she told press that the U.S First Lady was ‘kind, charming, intelligent and very open’.

The internet has been speculating for months that Melania Trump is unhappy in her current role as First Lady. Photos showing her happy demeanour before her husband took office and her sombre presence after, testify to these claims. It may be that the Slovenian is acting a certain way due to the seriousness of her position but it certainly raises questions in everyone’s minds.

Melania and President Trump have a 24-year age gap, the two were married in January, 2005. Melania gave birth to their son, Barron Willian Trump, in March 2006. She reportedly said that during her husband’s election campaign, she would prefer to stay out of the limelight and at home focusing on parenting her son.

There have been several awkward moments captured on camera in which Melania is seen swatting President Trump’s hand away, as he attempts to hold hers. Reportedly, the same was witnessed when the Trumps stood in welcome of the Macarons, a few days back.

Melania Trump, who is the second foreign-born woman to be the First Lady, has been under public scrutiny since President Trump’s election. Her every outfit and every move has been watched with hawk eyes.
