As a wedding gift and also as a tribute, Prince Harry gave Meghan his mother’s emerald cut aquamarine ring.

The ring, said to hold a special place in Prince Harry’s heart, dazzled on Meghan’s right hand as the couple made their way to the second wedding reception at Frogmore House, hosted by his father, the Prince of Wales.

The Duchess was dressed in a white custom silk Stella McCartney evening dress as she left for her reception with her husband, Prince Harry, in his silver-blue classic convertible Jaguar. Meghan’s hair was styled by George Northwood for the evening.

The stunning aquamarine cocktail ring was part of a set owned by Diana, including a matching bracelet. The late Princess Diana last wore the ring in 1997, months before she died, to an auction of her own wardrobe at Christie’s. After her tragic demise in 1997, she left her jewelry collection to Prince William and Prince Harry, both of whom were allowed to keep an item from it.

It was not only the aquamarine ring that made it clear that Diana was sorely missed on Harry and Meghan’s wedding day. In the chapel, as he waited for his bride to arrive, Prince Harry seemed quite emotional while remembering his mother. He turned to his brother, Prince Williams, and they shared a personal moment just before Meghan walked up to the aisle accompanied by her father in law, Prince Charles.

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, also got an engagement ring tjat belonged to Princess Diana. Meghan’s, on the other hand, was designed specially by Prince Harry himself, who added two diamonds from his mother’s collection to it.

The new Duchess of Sussex looked like a vision of grace and elegance at the evening reception, but what stood out the most was the gemstone on her hand, which once belonged to the ‘People’s Princess’, Diana.

Fans also noticed the aquamarine ring and were quick to share their love towards Prince Harry’s sweet tribute to his late mother.

Prince Harry was only 12 years old when Diana was killed in a tragic car accident in Paris.
