Republican leader and current president of the United States of America, has reportedly lied about a discount he received for a ring he bought for his beautiful wife and First Lady, Melania Trump.
In order to woo his to be wife and sweep her off her feet, President Trump bought an expensive diamond ring to ask Melania to marry him.
He bought the extravagant piece of rock from Graff Diamonds, a popular jewelry store in the United States. However, in an interview back in 2005, Donald Trump revealed that he received a hefty one million dollar discount from the store for the beautiful ring.
He said, “Only a fool would say, ‘No thank you, I want to pay a million dollars more for a diamond.”
However, the news has been denied by the chairman of the company, Laurence Graff.
The store gained a lot of publicity after the President’s statement but Laurence Graff reaffirmed that the news was false. He told Forbes, “We don’t sell items for publicity value.”
The rumor was further dismissed by the chairman in an email he wrote directing the issue. He said that they had a pleasure working with the current president but he was given ‘no favors’ by the company.
The original price of the diamond ring is said to be $1.5 million. The diamond is a 10-carat crystal and rests beautifully on the First Lady’s ring finger.
Some people on Twitter were not the least surprised that President Trump would falsely report something.
One user said, “No surprise…… He lies about EVERYTHING.”
Another one stated, “Perhaps we should start pointing out times when he ACTUALLY speaks the truth?”
While a third one shockingly asked, “You mean… the president of the United States…. @realDonaldTrump… is a liar??!! #shocking.”
Reportedly, the president also bought his stylish wife another ring to commemorate 10 years of marriage together. Well, this time the ring was even bigger and more expensive!
In 2015, Trump bought Melania a 25-carat diamond which cost him around $ 3 million. The ring was bought from the same store as the first one.
While president Trump may shower the First Lady with expensive gifts, according to reports, their relationship is not an ideal one.
The book Fire and Fury, authored by Michael Wolff, highlights the unusual relationship the president shares with his wife.
The book explained how the couple would go on for long periods of time without speaking to each other.
The author wrote, “He and Melania spent relatively little time together. …. Often she did not know where he was, or take much notice of that fact.”
