WWE Superstar John Cena is all set to replace Sylvester Stallone and join hands with the legendary actor Jackie Chan in their new film ‘Project X’.
John Cena will be playing the role of a former United States Marine, while Jackie Chan will be playing the character of a Chinese private security contractor.
The movie plot follows Chan, who works to get a group of oil workers out of a peril when the refinery is attacked in the city of Baghdad in Iran. Once he finds out that the attack is part of a plan to steal the oil, he finds and partners up with Cena, who is loving in Iraq and is teaching orphans.
The Marine and the security contractor work together from there on.
The movie producer is Chan, along with Joe Tam, Esmond Ren and Hans Canosa. The script of the movie will be written by Arash Amel, who has also worked as a writer on films like Grace of Monaco and Erased.
The 64-year-old Chan is represented by CAA and Bloom Hergott. The legendary actor has been known for his movies like the Rush Hour series, Karate Kid, Drunken Master and Around the World in 80 Days.
Cena, 41, repped by ICM Partners, has started to really get into Hollywood by taking part in blockbuster films. He will next be seen in the Transformers‘ spinoff Bumblebee and the action thriller film The Janson Directive, which is a Universal Pictures project and has Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson as an executive producer.
The reason why Sylvester Stallone left the new film ‘Project X’ is still not known.
Cena has featured in movies including The Marine, 12 Rounds, The Reunion, Ferdinand (voice-over), Trainwreck, Daddy’s Home, and Daddy’s Home 2. This is not the first time a WWE Superstar has gone big in Hollywood. The Rock and Dave Bautista are just one of the few names who have made a name for themselves in the industry.
The Rock has been known for his role in the Fast and Furious franchise and for his own films such as San Andreas, Jumanji and Baywatch. Bautista has also been known for playing the character of ‘Drax the Destroyer‘ on films like Avengers: Infinity Wars and Guardians of the Galaxy.
