On Thursday, Selena Gomez, Andy Samberg and the rest of the cast answered questions posed by young fans for their new animation film, Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation.
The interview was hosted by PEOPLE, and the voice actors and actresses were faced with all sorts of questions about the movie as well as about their own lives.
When the cast was asked about their favorite monster, Keegan-Michael Key, who played an ancient mummy called Murray, said that he would choose Godzilla. He explained to the children that he was into monster movies when he was a little boy. He also said, “I also like the sound that he makes.”
On the other hand, Selena said she would choose her onscreen father, Dracula, played by Adam Sandler. She added, “Maybe I’m biased, but Dracula. You know, he’s my pops!”
One child asked them how they would put on makeup if they had no reflection. The stars were astonished at the 7-year-old’s thought-provoking question. Selena hesitantly answered, “I guess, I guess, I would wing it. I should try that some time.”
On the question of packing essentials when going on a vacation, Andy Samberg, who voiced Johnny the son-in-law, said that he always brings enough underwear and snacks when going on a holiday. He answered, “You don’t know if you are going to get snacky on your travels so [I take] all kind of jerkys.”
The stars were then asked about their favorite destinations. Kathryn Hahn, who voiced the captain of the cruise ship Ericka Van Helsing, said that Hawaii would be her first choice. She said, “I love the smell there and I have really good memories of being there with my kids and I also love rainbow shaved ice.”
25-year-old Selena previously claimed that she enjoyed reuniting with the cast for third installment. She said, “My dad Dracula begins dating, so in this one Mavis acts as the overprotective parent. I had a good time playing up that dynamic!”
She continued, “I like playing a character who loves her family and being in a film that brings families together.”
In the latest part of the film series, the monster family, Dracula (Adam Sandler), his daughter Mavis (Selena Gomez) and her husband Johnny (Andy Samberg) finally take off for a holiday on their luxurious monster cruise ship to give Dracula a break from his busy life. Mavis surprises her father with the cruise ship. He soon falls for the enigmatic captain, Ericka (Kathryn Hahn), who is a threat to monster-kind.
The movie will be released in cinemas on July 13!
