HBO teased a first look at Game of Thrones Season 8, featuring Jon Snow and Sansa Stark, set to release in the first half of 2019.
The sizzle reel highlighting new and returning shows featured clips from the upcoming season of the popular show and others, including Big Little Lies and Veep. The trailer shows a reunion between Jon Snow and Sansa Stark with a cold hug between the two characters.
It also shows memorable moments from season 7, including Daenerys Targaryen and Cersei Lanniester going about business and includes sweeping shots of castles and soldiers getting burnt in dragon-fire.
The trailer also creates hype for the new season with dialogue, with Jon Snow asking Daenerys, “What happens now?” to which she responds, “Something extraordinary.”
Snow also says to Cersei, “There is only one war that matters,” to which she says, “We will face it together.”
Fans expect season 8 to be released in April or May of next year, which is around the same time as the release of past seasons. However, HBO programming chief Casey Bloys recently said he does not know exactly when the show plans to air, but gave it a ‘first half of 2019’ time slot.
If the saga wants to be in the running for an Emmy, the majority of the show must be released before May 31.
The trailer also offers a look at HBO’s upcoming Jane Fonda documentary.
