There is another development in the ‘Fast and Furious’ family feud! Actor Tyrese Gibson, aka Roman Pearce in the movies, has come down and accepted his actions as ‘not cool.’ The 39 year old actor spoke to Van Lathan in an episode of his podcast, Red Pill, saying that he feels ‘stupid’ about saying all the things he did earlier.
Tyrese also accepted that his behavior had been ‘unprofessional’ and revealed that he had been ‘the messenger’ for a lot of other frustrated people involved. Even though they also had issues with the franchise, none of them came forward. Only Tyrese did. He became really vocal on social media, uploading long rant videos in which he also got emotional and broke down. He seems to regret doing all that now.
“…stupid me was the only one who went public about those feelings, which is my own fault. It’s not professional, it’s not cool,” he said. It certainly wasn’t cool to Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson since he was at the receiving end of Tyrese’s hate earlier. It seems Tyrese was furious about the delayed release date for ‘FnF 9.’ He accused Dwayne of having made the entire ‘FnF’ franchise all about himself and called the veteran actor selfish, among other things.
Universal Pictures pushed back the release date from 2019 to April 2020 because they wanted to give sufficient attention to Dwayne’s spin-off. This movie will be all about his character, Hobbs. Universal’s actions irked Tyrese enough that he went online and said all sorts of derogatory things to Dwayne.
“#PSA Congratulations to @TheRock … for making the fast and the furious franchise about YOU,” he wrote in an inflammatory post. He continued to write that he would see his fans in ‘2020 April’ and made sarcastic remarks about the ‘#FastFamily,’ writing, “Nah…it’s about #TeamDewayne.” Tyrese also continued to poke fun at Dwayne, asking him if Hobbs’ spinoff would be ‘another #BayWatch.” He ended the rant by telling fans not to worry because he was just writing as a ‘passionate film critic.’
Film critic or no, he kept on ranting about the issue. To his credit, Dwayne did not reply or engage with the feud. Instead, he kept his opinions to himself until July 12, when he openly said that he felt there was no need to have any sort of conversation with Tyrese. Dwayne spoke to Andy Cohen on his live talk show and said he had not spoken to Tyrese at all and also would not be doing so. He also cited personal problems as the possible reason behind Tyrese’s rants.
His rants have confused fans previously as well. Under a mix of emotions and medication, Tyrese left a now deleted Instagram comment in which he said he had no hard feelings towards Dwayne. “I have never and will never have a problem with this major movie star he’s my brother. I’m simply trying to reach him cause he won’t call me back about this solo #HobbsMovie I want you to shoot it just not right now cause the #Fast9 release date has already been announced,” he wrote. Tyrese went on to say that ‘FnF’ fans would be let down by the date push.
Tyrese seems to have learnt from his actions. Now fans are waiting to see Dwayne’s response!
