The whole Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian feud has reignites, this time due to the former. Taylor Swift kicked off her Reputation stadium tour in Glendale, Arizona yesterday, and made it a point to talk about her feud with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.
The singer resolved her feud with Katy Perry a day before the tour started.
Taylor has previously made clear that she is taking full ownership of the ‘snake’ image that she has now. This comes after Kim Kardashian leaked the recording of the phone call between Taylor Swift and Kanye West, where the former apparently agreed to the lyrics in Kanye’s song, Famous.
While performing Look What You Made Me Do, a direct ode to her haters and the many people she has had issues with in the past, Taylor wheeled out a huge snake onto the stage. Snakes already feature on most of her merchandise, but fans were still taken aback at the sheer magnitude of the setup.
Before performing another one of her songs, Long Live, Taylor said, “A couple of years ago, someone called me a snake on social media and it caught on. I went through some times when I didn’t know if I was gonna get to do this anymore.”
“I wanted to send a message to you guys that if someone uses name calling to bully you on social media and even if a lot of people jump on board with it, that doesn’t have to beat you. It can strengthen you instead,” she added.
The line in Kanye’s song that broke down the recently renewed friendship between him, his wife and Taylor Swift was, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex, why? I made that b**ch famous.”
Taylor later took to her since wiped Instagram to make clear that she was not on board with the lyrics of the song. Kim then took to social media to leak a phone call in which Taylor agreed to the song. She can be heard saying, “I’m really glad you had the respect to call me that and tell me that as a friend, about the song. It’s just a really cool thing to do, and a really good show of friendship.”
Taylor then again took to Instagram to say that her contention was being called “b**ch”, something she wasn’t specifically informed of, and asserting that no matter what, she was done talking about this.
However, since then, Taylor has used the snake image Kim constructed around her as the central theme in the publicity of her new album. The music video for her first single from the album, Look What You Made Me Do, also revolved primarily around the snake image. At the end of the video, Taylor rehashed one of the infamous lines she wrote when addressing the leaked phone call, “I would like to be excluded from this narrative.
Taylor is not as intent on maintaining her other feuds, however, as was showcased by her Instagram story one day before her tour launched. She recorded a package sent to her by Katy Perry, containing a literal olive branch.
The package also contained a note that said, “Hey Old Friend, I’ve been doing some reflecting on our miscommunications and tough feelings between us. I really want to clear the air … deeply sorry for …”
The rest of the note is obstructed by the envelope.
Kim has not responded to the speech Taylor gave since then, but Kanye West might have something to say about it in one of his infamous Twitter rants.
