Sophie Turner talks about sexual exploration and says she loves ‘souls, not genders’ in a new interview. Turner and Joe Jonas are engaged.
Turner and her Game of Thrones co-star Maisie Williams appeared on Rolling Stone where they talked about the show and their characters Sansa Stark and Arya Stark. The two said they were best friends from when Turner was 13 and Williams was 12, and that “We were pretty much best friends from that second on.”
Turner said she was initially “jealous” of Williams “because she got to do all these sword fights and be the badass” but she added that her character’s development has made it “all the more satisfying”. She added, “I’m happy she’s only just coming into her power now.”
The now 23-year-old Turner also talked about her engagement to Joe Jonas, saying that before she got engaged to him, she was “fully preparing myself to be single for the rest of my life”. She added, “I think once you’ve found the right person, you just know. I feel like I’m much older a soul than I am in age.”
The Dark Phoenix star also openly talked about experimenting as she grew up, “I’ve met enough guys to know — I’ve met enough girls to know. I don’t feel 22. I feel like 27, 28. Everyone experiments. It’s part of growing up. I love a soul, not a gender.”
While speaking about her character Sansa, Turner said, “There’s a lot of Sansa in me. You go into something and you think it’s going to be a huge dream, and then you figure out, ‘Oh, wait. I have to be very strategic about everything.'”
Turner also talked about suffering from mental health issues, saying, “Depression for sure, anxiety, all of those things”. She said therapy made her “feel so much better,” adding, “The fact that I spoke to someone changed my life.”
