Selena Gomez is heavily relying on Taylor Swift for support and friendship after returning from her rehab stint and mental health break.
Selena Gomez recently left social media to focus on her mental health and stayed for a while in a rehab center that helped her regroup. She revealed to her fans before leaving that she was going off the grid for a while as well.
Nearly a month later, Gomez has returned to social media and first appeared in a picture Taylor Swift posted of a get together at her place.
A little while after that, Gomez herself posted on her Instagram, writing, “It’s been a while since you have heard from me, but I wanted to wish everyone a happy new year and to thank you for your love and support. Last year was definitely a year of self-reflection, challenges and growth. It’s always those challenges which show you who you are and what you are capable of overcoming. Trust me, it’s not easy, but I am proud of the person I am becoming and look forward to the year ahead. Love you all.”
A source told E!, “Selena and Taylor have been in touch since Selena left her treatment and are very close. Taylor has reached out several times and has shown her support and love. [Selena] really leans on Taylor and considers her one of her best friends.”
The support and dependence go both ways. After Gomez performed with Swift during the Reputation Stadium Tour, Swift gave her a shout out on social media, writing, “To the person I could call at any time of day, who has been there no matter what… you absolutely KILLED IT tonight and everyone was so excited to see you. I love you, and 60,000 people at the Rose Bowl loved you too.”

The source added that the two make it work even though they currently live in different cities and obviously have a lot going on in their professional lives. Whenever Swift is in LA, “she tries to make time to see Selena” and “it’s always fun for them to catch up and have a girls’ night.”
The world saw one of those girls nights in the selfie Swift posted on her Instagram, which also included Cazzie David. While Taylor shared photos from their hangout, Gomez opted out of doing the same. The source shared, “She isn’t going to be posting much on social because she is more aware of how social takes a toll on her mental health, but she will be updating her fans once in a while.”
Selena has a number of endorsements coming up in 2019.
