In honor of her best friend Courtney J Barry turning 26, Selena Gomez showed off two new tattoos on Instagram, and the comment section is going insane.
Along with a picture of herself getting a tattoo of the number 4 on the inner elbow of her right arm, Gomez wrote, “4 because these women have stayed by my side for 7 years (@ashley_cook 12 years). 4, because you are my 4 for the rest of my life.”
“I love you ladies. You all inspire me to be better, stronger, closer to god and we have lived the most INSANE story together already. Can’t wait for 50 more!!”
Fans immediately took to the comments to shade Gomez for not giving similar recognition to her friend that donated a kidney to her.
In another post, Gomez also revealed that she got the number 1 tattooed on the right side of her ribcage. She did this in honor of her birthday friend, and wrote alongside it:
“And lastly, my actual #[email protected] you are an incredible woman. The way you handle life’s most confusing moments is indescribable and graceful. You are moved by the littlest stories to the most heartbreaking ones, you will give someone your perfume if they say you smell nice, you are freaking hilarious and always stand firm in your faith, a loving sister, an amazing friend and a beautiful daughter. You are the definition of FEARFULLY and WONDERFULLY made baby! #1.”
Fans again took to the comment section immediately, saying Gomez was a bad friend for not considering the girl who donated a kidney to her as her #1.
Francia Raisa was the donor that gave Gomez a kidney in 2017. Raisa later revealed what she was told by her social worker before she donated, saying, “It’s going to be hard, the recipient is going to glow and she’s going to recover a lot faster than the donor because she’s getting something she needs and you are losing something you don’t need to lose.”
Gomez shared her gratitude for Raisa’s sacrifice in a previous Instagram post, writing, “There aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis.”
To most fans though, this tribute does not seem to be enough.
Gomez’s kidney transplant took place in May 2017.
