Ryan Reynolds is back at it with his one-of-a-kind humor. The Deadpool star left fans laughing when they read his automatic out-of-office email reply for his newly bought liquor company, Aviation American Gin.
The email summarizes Ryan’s relationship with his dad and also advertises his gin as the perfect gift for Father’s Day.
Set to send pictures of the gin with Ryan’s photos, the cleverly worded reply starts with a customary thank you. It then assures recipients that Ryan takes ‘all emails seriously…especially ones with pictures’. The email also details a lesson Ryan learned about writing out of office replies for emails. “This is only my 2nd OUT OF OFFICE REPLY. From what I’m told, it should be short, sweet and NEVER overly personal or emotional.”
However, the email breaks that mold right away when it launches into a story about Ryan’s relationship with his own father. He wrote that their relationship was ‘nonexistent’ but he loves seeing other people ‘celebrating paternal relationships which have been built on trust, warmth and totally natural amounts of eye contact’. The email then urges the recipient to gift their father a bottle of the premium gin, which can apparently go a long way towards making meaningful relationships.
“This Father’s Day, you may not be able to give Dad a second chance, but you CAN get him a bottle Aviation American Gin,” he wrote. “Or, if he died before either of you could even begin to comprehend the importance of closure, just get yourself a bottle.”
Ryan’s dark humor and self-deprecating tone were present in the rest of the email, which read, “Owning a gin company has been one of the great privileges of my life… While my own father may be long gone, the unspoken tension we shared is alive and well.”
It also goes on to say that had Ryan owned a gin company back when his father was alive, he would be sharing one with his old man.
“I’d be sittin’ across from him, clinking glasses and having an effervescent giggle about the fact I now own the finest Gin company on planet earth,” he wrote. He added that after knowing his son’s new business venture, Ryan’s dad might have finally told him he was ‘enough’. It seems Ryan did not get the parental love that many others take for granted. It was attention to this fact that really made the email a kicker, even though fans did enjoy the humorous aspects of it as well.
The email sent a lot of recipients into both tears and laughter, and also tears of laughter.
You’re the best Ryan. I just got your out of office reply and I love it. Besides the signed bottle of Aviation Gin, the e-mail reply is memento. You’re my Hero Man. If I ever meet you I’m going to cry like a fifth grade girl. God bless you. pic.twitter.com/fL9yXOABCV

Ryan ended the email with a witty disclaimer that was both funny and serious. He wrote, “This Father’s Day, you may not be able to give Dad a second chance, but you CAN get him a bottle Aviation American Gin. Or, if he died before either of you could even begin to comprehend the importance of closure, just get yourself a bottle.”
Fans really warmed up to his sense of humor.
Ryan signed off the email with a short and sweet Father’s Day greeting and his signature. Fans who want to read the out of office reply for themselves can email him at: [email protected]. They might just receive a bottle of gin as well!
