Queen Elizabeth honors Kate Middleton on her wedding anniversary with a very special present. The anniversary falls right after Prince William’s cheating rumors started circulating.
It was announced on Monday that the Duchess of Cambridge was going to be appointed to the Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order by Queen Elizabeth. The title is used to recognize services to the Crown and is the highest rank that the Queen can grant. It was founded by Queen Victoria in 1896.
The honor falls on Prince William and Kate Middleton’s eighth wedding anniversary. The two tied the knot in April of 2011 in Westminster Abbey. They have two sons and a daughter together.
Fans let it be known on social media that they thought this was the Queen’s way of making up for Prince William’s infidelity, news of which has been circulating on social media lately. One fan wrote, “Kate gets a consolation prize because William cheated on her.” Another said, “The least grandma can do after she put up (gracefully) with his cheating grandson.”
Yet another wrote, “Yeah, cause her grandson cheated on Kate so kiss up time.” Another one asked, “Whatever. Where’s Meghan’s?”
Fans also posted a number of funny memes about the Queen’s supposed reaction to the cheating allegations.
