Nicki Minaj is making it clear to everyone that she did not mean to shade Ariana Grande with her recent song, and that the two are in fact, close friends.
The rapper recently released a new song called Bust Down Barbiana, in which she raps, “Killing everybody beat, thank u, next Ariana”. Fans immediately took it as shade to the 7 Rings songstress.
Ariana took to Twitter to defend Minaj, saying, “there will never be anything but love between us ever. she’s been there for me (in real life) every time i’ve needed somebody & i’ll always be there for her. we love each other. bet.” Nicki further added, “Not more than you’ve been there for me behind the scenes. Love you. For life.”
Minaj recently released a new music video for Hard White, which fans also took as shade for another pop star. In the video, she broke a scorpion into pieces. People speculated that she is in fact shading Drake. Since his fifth album is called Scorpion.
Nicki also previously defended himself with Barbie Dreams, “With ‘Barbie Dreams,’ you guys do know that is not a diss, right? You do know that the people I said on ‘Barbie Dreams’… I said things about people who I know can take a joke and who I know can’t be emotional with it,” she previously clarified on Beats 1. “It is what it is.”
Bust Down Barbiana was previously called Bust Down Thotiana.
