Nick Jonas and his family have arrived in Mumbai for his and Priyanka’s grand engagement ceremony.
On Thursday, Nick was spotted at the Chattrapati Shivaji International Airport. He is in India to officially exchange rings with his partner, Priyanka Chopra, as per traditional Indian customs.
Last week, the news of the Jonases coming to India to meet the Chopras for an engagement party made rounds. On Thursday, the 25-year-old pop-star was accompanied by his parents, Paul and Denise Jonas, at the Mumbai Airport. The parents were seen carrying a Tiffany&Co. bag, which presumably had gifts for their daughter-in-law and her family.
They have arrived ahead of the engagement party which is scheduled over the weekend.
Nick was seen donning a black top paired with trousers, leading his parents out of the airport. The news of his surprise engagement with the 36-year-old Quantico star broke last month. This is the first time the two families will meet officially.
“It’s going to be the first time that their families intermingle and get to know each other,” the source told E News.
“It’s a tradition for them to meet before the wedding and Priyanka’s family insisted on hosting the Jonas family in their country,” the source explained.
“Priyanka wants everything to be traditional to respect her family’s values, and definitely an Indian wedding. Priyanka and Nick are excited for everyone to meet and to celebrate. Everything is very secretive but guests are expected to head there starting tomorrow. All of the plans are moving quickly and Priyanka and Nick do not want to have a long engagement.”
Since Priyanka has expressed her desire to have a traditional wedding following the couple’s engagement, fans of the charming duo expect to see the couple engaging in various Indian wedding festivities.
Priyanka has further commented on the matter, and has expressed her dislike for lengthy engagements, which means that the diva is ready to tie the knot soon.
This, however, will not be the first time for the duo to meet and greet each other’s families. On Nick’s last visit to India, he was introduced to his fiancé’s mother, brother, and cousin. Priyanka’s mother, Madhu Chopra, is already a fan of the new addition to their family, as claimed by a source.
“Priyanka’s mom absolutely adored Nick. She thought he was very charming. Everyone adores them as a couple and is very supportive of the relationship,” a source told E! News at the time.
Priyanka, too, has spent some quality time with Nick’s family, and was spotted celebrating Fourth of July with her soon to be brother-in-law, Joe Jonas, and his fiancé, Sophie Turner.
Priyanka recently also revealed her engagement ring to the world in a selfie on Instagram. The ring is estimated to have cost her beau around $200,000.
The couple has remained unconventional in the context of celebrity relationships, as they decided to commit to each other only after two months of dating. Nick shut down an entire Tiffany&Co. store to find the perfect ring for his wife-to-be.
Their wedding, which is unlikely to be delayed by the lovebirds, is probably going to be just as big of a delight to see!
