It all began as a fierce song & dance competition between the families but ended, as always, as a huge celebration of love. Nick and I were looking forward to the Sangeet (musical evening), another pre wedding ritual.. and to see what each side had put together. And what a performance it was. Each family telling our stories through song and dance, filled with lots of laughter and love. We were both filled with gratitude for the effort, the love and the laughter and will carry the memories of this special evening for the rest of our lives. It is an amazing start to a lifetime of togetherness for our families and friends.. #grateful @nickjonas
Priyanka also posted a sweet note to describe the celebration.
The couple also posted pictures from their mehendi celebrations, in which Chopra is wearing a vibrant lehenga that perfectly straddles modern and traditional Indian culture, and Jonas is wearing a traditional Indian outfit again.
Chopra also posted a note describing this event, and Jonas posted the same pictures and caption.
The couple also had a Western wedding celebration, in which the bride reportedly wore a Ralph Lauren dress, matching with the rest of the wedding party, and Nick’s dad, Kevin Sr., officiated the Christian wedding ceremony.
Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner, Kevin Jonas and Danielle Jonas attended the wedding along with other close family and friends of the couple. Although Priyanka Chopra attended Meghan Markle’s wedding, the latter did not make it over for Chopra’s wedding.
The couple held the ceremony at the Taj Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, India. They gave each other Chopard wedding rings as a symbol of their bond and wedding vows.
Designer Ralph Lauren posted on their Facebook page, “Congratulations to @PriyankaChopra and @NickJonas on the occasion of their wedding in Jodhpur, India, this weekend. Ralph Lauren is honored to have dressed the couple—Priyanka in a custom Ralph Lauren gown and Nick in a custom Purple Label tuxedo—as well as the members of their wedding party.”
Ralph Lauren has a special place in the couple’s relationship because it was at the 2017 Met Gala that they met while they were both sporting the same designer. They had already been flirting on text and Instagram DMs beforehand by the time that they attended the Gala together.
Although the couple have already exchanged vows under the Christian faith, they will also be having an Indian ceremony to honor Priyanka’s background.
Chopra told Vogue about her elaborate wedding plans, “People will need vacations after this wedding.”
Priyanka and Jonas have previously said that faith played a huge part in bringing them closer together and cementing their bond.
Jonas said during the Today Show, “I can go into all of it and get all mushy, but I think the thing that really connected both of us was our love for family and faith and the importance of being connected to those.”
He added, “They are always going to be there for you. We found that in each other as well, which is a beautiful thing and I’m excited to start our lives together.”
Chopra later confirmed to E!, “We have that in common very much. We’ve known each other for a couple of years but we dated for just a little while, but I think that’s the one thing we really connect on is our love for family and knowing faith is so important to us.”
Chopra also joked about her friends having babies, specifically referring to Meghan Markle being pregnant just months after her wedding.
“I just have a few of my friends who are having babies right now. I’m like, ‘God I need to catch up!'” she said.
Mr and Mrs Chopra-Jonas have not yet spoken out about their wedding.
