Michael Phelps and his wife Nicole Phelps are expecting their third child together. The couple already has two sons together.
The retired Olympic swimmer and his wife announced their pregnancy in a sweet Instagram post on Sunday. The picture included their 2 children with the word ‘Baby’ spelled out with balloons.
Phelps used the caption, “#3 on the way! Can’t wait to see the journey that this takes us on!!! #luckyman #boyorgirl? #P3.” While Nicole wrote, “Oops we did it again 🧒🏼👦🏻👶🏻 I get to be a mama x3!! #furbabymama x2 #p3#herewegoagain.”
The couple got married in 2016 and have two sons, 2-year-old Boomer, and 1-year-old Beckett. The gender of their upcoming baby is still unknown however.
In an interview with PEOPLE last year, Phelps talked about fatherhood. He said, “I have learned a lot of patience. Being able to be at that point where we are able to teach and raise our two kids exactly how we want is a journey we are really looking forward to and is going to be super fun. But I believe we are really just getting started. We are looking forward to wherever this is going to take us. It’s been a great learning process. But I think the biggest thing is patience.”
Michael added, “It is difficult, but you just figure it out and make it work. That is what you do as parents. There is no manual on how to do it. You figure it out along the way.”
Michael Phelps, 33, is considered to be the most celebrated swimmer of all time. He has won 28 Olympic medals, 13 of them being gold.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
