Despite the massive amounts of attention on her at all times, Meghan Markle was able to sneak away from the Kensington Palace for a secret trip with her best friend.
According to Good Morning America, “Meghan spent three days holed up at Jessica Mulroney and her husband Ben Mulroney’s home in Toronto. They spent their days catching up, cooking together and, of course, playing with Jessica’s children, who love their ‘Auntie Meg.’”
The friends even managed to go out one night and catch up with other pals, and all this happened without the cameras being trained on the recently titled Duchess of Sussex.
Meghan’s trip was a three day getaway, and she flew commercial round-trip. The Duchess met Jessica in 2011 after moving to Toronto to film Suits. The duo sat front row at her televised wedding to Prince Harry in May. Their 7-year-old twin sons also served as page boys for the event and their 4-year-old daughter was a bridesmaid.
Mulroney also wished Markle a happy birthday on her Instagram story with a short but sweet tribute, but deleted it later on. The friends have also stayed in touch in other ways. Mulroney, who is a style consultant, reportedly styled Markle for her visit to the Nelson Mandela Centenary Exhibition and for her royal tour of Ireland.
Earlier this week, Markle also attended a special gala performance of Hamilton with Prince Harry inside the Victoria Palace Theatre in London. She met with Lin-Manuel Miranda before the show started and afterwards, went backstage and attempted to sing a few parts of You’ll Be Back with the cast.
Later on this year, Meghan Markle will resume her royal duties by touring Australia and New Zealand.
