Lana Del Rey has spoken out about the sentencing of her stalker, a 43 year old man who was caught a block away from her office back in February.
Michael Shawn Hunt intercepted a block away from the singer’s Amway Center show in Orlando and was taken to court after his arrest in February. He took a plea deal which meant that aggravated stalking and weapons charges were dropped, even though the stalker did not contest the charges.
During his hearing, Hunt’s Facebook posts were used as evidence, with statement such as, “Our queen forever in both worlds I love you so much Lana I can’t wait to be back in your arms in a few days, baby I hear you singing, I miss you baby, I miss you so much Lana.” Yet another post read, “Lana and I will be together, I will likely be going on the rest of her tour with her.”
The Orlando Police posted about the incident on their Twitter, as did the singer herself. She posted a screenshot which read, “A man charged with stalking lana Del Ray in Florida has received a one year prison sentence after pleading no contest, Orlando NBC affiliate WESH reports and documents viewed y Pitchfork confirm. Michael Shawn Hunt, 43, took a plea deal that meant aggravated stalking and weapons charges were dropped, WESH reports. ”
She added, “Alsoooo… if you bring weapons to the show with plans to use them and ur posting abut it- the police will probably know about it before I do like they did in Orlando.”
The singer, Lana Del Rey also brought criminal charges against a stalker in 2016.
