While Dax Shepherd won’t turn 44 until January, he recently celebrated his 14-year sobriety birthday, and Kristen Bell could not let that go without giving it its due appreciation.

Today may not have been Dax Shephered’s actual birthday, but still quite a special event to celebrate for him and his wife Kristen Bell.

“I know how much you loved using. I know how much it got in your way,” Kristen shared. (Image source: Instagram/Kristen Bell)

She took to Instagram to share a heartwarming post for her husband, ahead of his actual birthday, to appreciate how far he’s come along, and also to share the love she has for him.

“I will forever be in awe of your dedication,” she wrote. (Image source: Instagram/Kristen Bell)

In a deeply touching post, Bell uploaded a series of photos of herself with husband Dax, and their kids whose faces she covered with cute emojis. She documented snippets of their journey together so far, and made some personal moments a little public.

She wrote, alongside her post, “To the man mocked me when in our wedding photos because I cried too many tears of joy, Who wore a baby Bjorn for 2 straight years to show his girls how to be as adventurous as possible, Who held our dear little shakey mann pup for 8 hrs straight on the day we had to put him down,” The Good Place actor wrote.

She directed her praise at her husband with regards to his struggles related to addictions.

She acknowledges them, and sheds light on Dax’s growth as a person. “I know how much you loved using. I know how much it got in your way. And I know, because I saw, how hard you worked to live without it,” she wrote, following it with a heartfelt feeling, “I will forever be in awe of your dedication.”

“I’m so proud that you have never been ashamed of your story, but instead shared it widely,” Kristen wrote alongside her post. (Image source: Instagram/Kristen Bell)

Unlike most people do in his situation, Dax has been sufficiently vocal about his addiction struggles, and for that, his wife only had kind words to lend him.

“I’m so proud that you have never been ashamed of your story, but instead shared it widely, with the hope it might inspire someone else to become the best version of themselves. You have certainly inspired me to do so,” she shared.

Dax has breached the subject of his addictions previously in his conversation with Playboy, post a year of his marriage to Kristen.

He specified his binges, and said, “Drinking, cocaine, opiates, marijuana, diet pills, pain pills, everything,” but two vices stood out: “Jack Daniel’s and cocaine.”

Dax, too, acknowledged his sobriety birthday when he took to Instagram to share how he celebrated it with his followers. The Armchair Expert podcast host celebrated it alongside his wife, Bell, and his podcast producer, Monica Padma at the King’s Hawaiian factory. He stated, “The best sober birthday present ever.”
