Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, who already have three children together, are reportedly expecting their fourth child via surrogate.
Multiple outlets are reporting that the couple is going to be having their fourth daughter via surrogate. Us Weekly claimed that the child is a boy though the gender is as of yet unsure.
Rumors of the couple’s family growing have been circulating for a while, but Kim previously shut them down. She said in August, “But I’ve been really open about it and talked about it on our show, so…I don’t know. We start filming season 16 next week. So if I think about it more and it’s gonna happen, you’ll definitely see it on the show. But, as of now, no.”
A source told E! that both of them have always wanted a large family, so this addition is not a surprise. The source said, “Both Kim and Kanye always agreed on wanting several kids and a big family. They love having their kids run around and be able to grow up and enjoy each other as siblings. They definitely would want the fourth child to be close in age with the others. Family is very important to them.”
Another source told PEOPLE, “They have absolutely talked about trying for another baby with the help of a surrogate, but nothing seems decided for sure. Chicago is still little, and they have time.”
The source added, “They don’t seem to be in a huge rush. They would use the same surrogate if she agrees to help them again. Kim can’t say enough kind words about the surrogate.”
Kim did reveal in August before though that if a fourth child happened, it would be the last. She said, “I don’t think I could handle more than that. My time is spread really thin. And I think it’s important that in all couples, the mom gives the husband as much attention as the kids.”
The couple also welcomed daughter Chicago West via surrogate on January 2018. Kim revealed why she did not opt for a natural pregnancy, saying, “After giving birth, your placenta is supposed to come out. But mine was stuck. That’s what women usually die from in childbirth—you hemorrhage and bleed to death and they can’t stop it. To get it out—it’s so disgusting—the doctor had to stick his whole arm in me and scrape it off. It was the most painful.”
Regardless, she had concerns about surrogacy. She said, “I hated being pregnant. But as much as I hated it, I still wished I could have done it on my own. The control is hard at the beginning. Once you let that go, it’s the best experience. I would recommend surrogacy for anybody.”
Kim and Kanye have not yet commented on this news themselves.
