Kim Kardashian said that she was naked when Donald Trump called her with the news that he was going to be releasing Alice Marie Johnson.
During a recent interview, Kim Kardashian revealed the details of when she found out Alice Marie Johnson was going to be released from prison. Johnson committed a first-time, non-violent drug offense and was sentenced to life in prison. When Kim stumbled across her case on Twitter, she decided to get personally involved and took the case all the way to the Oval Office, where she met with the President of the United States.
A week after she met with him, Trump granted Johnson freedom. Kardashian revealed that when Trump called her to reveal the news, she was in the middle of a nude photoshoot. She said, “So I’m naked and my phone rings and I’m all glammed up and I’m like, ‘Get me a robe.’” Confirming the details of the situation, Kimmel asked, “You were naked when Donald Trump called you?” Kardashian clarified that “I put a robe on, I was in a robe.”
She explained, “I put a robe on and I was kinda bugging out during the shoot because I’m like ‘Oh, my God, all these amazing things are happening.” She said that she debated continuing with the photoshoot, but then decided that she had to stick to true form and went ahead with it anyway.
Still stuck on the idea of Kardashian talking to Trump semi-nude, Kimmel quipped, “You were just like in a robe and nothing else? Because he probably would have released the whole prison if you’d told him. The gates would have swung open.”
Kardashian also clarified that her attempts to contribute to the conversation surrounding prison reform did not end with Alice Marie Johnson. She said that she now gets letters from prisoners and their families every day detailing worthy cases, and that even though it is a lot of pressure, she is determined to make a bigger impact in this arena. Kimmel jokingly asked Kim if Melania was one of the prisoners she intended to free.
Kardashian was also asked if husband Kanye West is still a Trump supporter. Kardashian said that he is, but clarified, “[Kanye]’s not political so he doesn’t really dig deep with what’s going on.” She also added that she respects his political opinions regardless of what they are, but understands that it’s not Trump’s policies that Kanye supports but his way of becoming president.
She explained, “I always respect what another person thinks and to make it clear, when we would talk about it and would talk about policies, he doesn’t necessarily agree with [Trump’s] policies but he likes his personality and how he made it to be president when everyone really underestimated him.” She added that even though she does not support many of Trump’s policies, she has “nothing bad to say about the president.”
Season 15 of Kim Kardashian’s reality TV show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, returns on August 5.
