After a six year relationship, Karlie Kloss and Joshua Kushner are engaged. The model took to Instagram to confirm the news.
The couple have been together since 2012. Despite the longevity of their relationship, they have remained notoriously private, attending very few red carpets together and posting very few photos of each other on their social media. Kloss took to Instagram to confirm the news, writing, “I love you more than I have words to express. Josh, you’re my best friend and my soulmate. I can’t wait for forever together. Yes a million times over.”
A source told People, “He proposed a few weeks ago during a romantic weekend together in upstate New York. They’re both overjoyed and happily celebrating. Their hearts are full and they’re excited to build their future together.”
Apart from Kloss’ tribute to Joshua for their engagement, she has not often spoken or written about him publicly. She wished him on his 33rd birthday, saying, “Happy Birthday to my love + my best friend in the Universe. Love you more than I can ever express @joshuakushner.” The couple celebrated his birthday together in Japan.
She also said in 2013 while speaking to People that she found Joshua’s distance from her industry refreshing. Kushner is an entrepreuner and venture capitalist, meaning his business is far from Kloss’ modelling. She said, “It’s really refreshing to leave all the fashion shows and shoots and chaos totally behind.”
While speaking to Porter magazine, Kloss detailed why she chose a life of privacy, especially when it came to her relationship with Kushner. She said, “It’s not like I’ve ever wanted to be so secretive about my private life. Carolina Herrera always says, ‘A woman who’s an open book is boring.’ There’s no mystery anymore. I know in my life what really matters to me. I’m not trying to hide that from the world; I just really like having a more private private life. I’ve got nothing to hide, though!”
Joshua is the younger brother of Jared Kushner, senior advisor to President Trump and the husband of Ivanka Trump. Although Kloss has not spoken of her relationship with the controversial political family, she did stress that she voted for Hilary Clinton in the 2016 presidential elections. Like Ivanka before her, Kloss converted to Judaism a few months prior to the engagement.
The couple is currently on vacation in Italy, celebrating their engagement with the likes of Sir Paul McCartney.
