Kanye West took to Twitter to explain why he was silent in response to Jimmy questioning his support of Donald Trump on the Jimmy Kimmel Live! last week.

Jimmy Kimmel has been vocal about his feelings for the current U.S President, Donald Trump, on multiple occasions. He is confident in his stand against a person who he believes has enacted quite a few problematic policies.

On his show last week, with Kanye as his guest, Jimmy alluded to the issue of migrants at the border with Mexico in his statement against Donald Trump. He said, “There are literally families being torn apart as a result of what this President is doing, and I think that cannot forget that, whether we like his personality or not, his actions are really what matter.”

He added, “I mean, you so famously and so powerfully said, ‘George [W.] Bush doesn’t care about black people.’ It makes me wonder what makes you think that Donald Trump does, or any people at all.”

Jimmy Kimmel posed this as a question to the Famous rapper, calling him out on his support of Trump. He drew a comparison between his support for Trump and his stand against George [W.] Bush after Hurricane Katrina.

Kanye West, 41, was silent in response to Jimmy K challenging his views of Trump. Kimmel had to go for a quick commercial break as a much needed segue, and the conversation shifted to Kanye’s kids post break.

Kanye has since then garnered a lot of attention in the news, and on social media regarding his lack of response to Kimmel. On Saturday, he took to Twitter to explain why he needed a moment of silence.

He wrote, “On Jimmy Kimmel we had a great time having a dialogue. I’m reading that I was stumped by a question. Let me clarify the click bait. I wasn’t stumped. I wasn’t given a chance to answer the question.”

“The question was so important I took time to think,” Kanye added. “And then I was hit with the let’s go to commercial break. That interview showed strong personalities with different opinions having a civil conversation.”

Kimmel wrote back, saying, “Not every question warrants an immediate answer. Some answers need to be considered and a talk show with time constraints is a difficult place to do that. I know how much Kanye cares and I am so impressed by what he is doing quietly and without fanfare to help those who need it.”

While he met the host’s question with silence on the show, later this week Kanye had a lot to say for himself.

He also added, “I was so happy when I saw Jimmy walk out in the Yeezys. That was an olive branch. He lead with love. I appreciate Jimmy and his team. You guys are Jedi’s. much love.”

This was Kanye West’s first appearance on the show in five years, and the conversation between Kimmel and Kanye covered various aspects of Kanye’s life. He not only defended his support for Donald Trump, but also talked about his wife, Kim Kardashian; his bipolar disorder, and how he manages to stay ‘Ye.
