Bieber posted a photo of a an equation reading “MJ + 2 Pac equals CB”, alongside the caption, “Everyone wants to wait til people die To give them the credit they deserve. I’m calling it now when CB (Chris Brown) passes away after a long full life, you will miss what you had in front of you the whole time… trust me watch you will see. The people who have over looked this mans talent because of a mistake he made… you need to reevaluate! Love you @chrisbrownofficial.”

Bieber also referred to Brown’s 2009 assault of Rihanna in the caption, which made fans speak up against him. One wrote, “Stop normalising violence… What you wrote will make people think that violence is just a simple mistake and ITS NOT. This post is so damaging.” Another wrote, “A mistake? Have you ever been on the other end of a fist? I hope and pray to GOD someone you love never suffers domestic violence.”

Brown replied to Bieber’s comment with a number of red heart emojis. Sean Kingston wrote, “Big facts lil bro CB legendary.” Additionally, Marlon Wayans commented, “Celebrate the legends while they still breathing. Let’s get back to love.”
