Her last appearance on the show was in the season four finale. She garnered four Emmy nominations for her acting on the show, and won two awards. After her stint on AHS, she went on to collaborate with creator Ryan Murphy for the first season of Feud, in which she starred as Joan Crawford opposite Susan Sarandon as Bette Davis.

Paulson will be playing Billie Dean Howard (Murder House and Hotel), Cordelia Foxx (Coven) and Ms. Wilhelmina Venable. Leslie Grossman will play Coco St. Pierre Vanderbilt, Billie Lourd will play Mallory and Adina Porter will play Dinah Stevens. Emma Roberts will be reprising her Coven role of Madison Montgomery, and said, “It’s delicious to play her again.” She also added, “Yesterday the director actually told me to play it bitchier, which I didn’t think was possible!” Lange’s character was not revealed.

The announcement of Lange’s return comes on the heels of FX announcing that the show, which was previously renewed until season 9, has also been renewed for a tent season. It was also announced that Cody Fern would be joining the cast as Michael Langdon, the child of Tate Langdon and Vivien Harmon who was born during the events of Murder House. In the epilogue of the season finale, it was revealed that Michael was the Anti-Christ. Paulson also confirmed that Evan Peters will be part of the cast and plays a hairdresser.

Season eight will be the long-awaited crossover between Murder House and Coven, the first and third seasons of the series. It will be set eighteen months into the future and as Woodall explained, “The story begins with the end of the world. It starts in the real world. It’s very tangible, and it’s a familiar panic.”
