Earlier today, Jennifer Lopez revealed the struggles of aging and balancing motherhood with work. She also dropped a few hints about an upcoming skincare line.
She appeared on ABC today to talk to Amy Robach about the 100th show of her Las Vegas residency. She was asked about what has motivated her to continue performing and dancing. She said, “You know what, people motivate me, cause you know I get on Instagram or Twitter beforehand and they’re like ‘I’m seeing you, I can’t wait for you to come.’ I do it for the fans.”
She also revealed that she plays the song, I Hope You Dance, every night for her two children, Emme and Max. She explained the sentiment behind the song, “I started this show when they were just about 7 years old and Emme gave me a little paper. It was me in that big dress like a little kid’s drawing and a bubble that said, ‘I hope you dance!’ They knew that I was singing it for them and that I hope they live their life to be happy. Which is very affirming.”
The actress and singer was also inevitably asked, “How is it that you don’t age?”
Lopez chose to be upfront about her answer, saying, “I mean I am aging, it is happening.” She also said, “Like every mom out there, you have to juggle kids and the working and the taking care of yourself and it’s not an easy thing. But women are multi-taskers and we can do anything if we put our minds to it. I truly believe that.”
The 48-year-old also revealed that she is going to be coming out with a skincare line sometime next year. She said the frequency of people asking her for anti-aging secrets has motivated her to develop her own line. She explained, “You know what, I’ve been working on a little secret package thing that I’m gonna release in the next year I think because I do get that question a lot. Just for your skin and some other things. We’ll see.”
Robach also inquired about Lopez’s song, El Anillo. The title of the song translates to ‘The Ring’. Robach asked whether the song was a hint for Lopez’s boyfriend, Alex Rodriguez. Lopez said, “I mean it was written about the two of us but it’s not about the two us. It’s not like I’m like, ‘Hey, where’s my ring?’ It’s not like that. I feel like they wrote it because they want that to happen. But we have to take our time.”
Referring to her history of broken marriages and relationships, Lopez elaborated, “I’ve made plenty of mistakes in my past and we’re mature now, we’re grown-ups and we’re going to take our time and we’re going to do things at our own pace. Our life right now is incredibly wonderful between our kids and our work, we’re truly blessed. We don’t need anything more right now.”
Jennifer Lopez is also starring in Shades of Blue.
