In her first monologue of the season, Ellen told her audience how she had come to work to escape the construction going on in her house. She also cracked a few jokes about the LA heat that she thought of over her vacation, including, “Today Ice Cube officially changed his name to Lil Puddle” and “This morning I saw a group of people huddled under Steve Harvey’s mustache.”

The couple went on their special trip in June, and began their journey in Kenya. They stayed at the Giraffe Manor, where giraffes hang out with you during breakfast. Ellen told the audience, “It was cute and all but it ate so much, the bill for breakfast was $400, just for breakfast.

She told her audience that during their trip, a mountain gorilla sneaked up on her group from between the bushes. The guide immediately took Ellen and Portia back and protected them, but Ellen’s sister-in-law was open. The gorilla was not aggressive towards her, but bumped her while retreating back into the woods.

Ellen said, “I was scared but then I got so jealous that he bumped my sister in law, like I wanna be bumped by a gorilla. You heard me.”
