Ellen DeGeneres is the new Oprah: she just surprised a family with a million dollars on her show, and their reactions could not have been any sweeter.
Last November, Ellen had fans Christi Daniels and Robert Daniels, who are parents to four sons, on her show. The couple told her that after making a fun video for her, their love life had been spiced up.
Catching up with them later, Ellen found out that the couple had been using a lot of their money on those in need around them despite being in financial difficulties themselves. She then surprised them with everything she gave away for 12 Days of Giveaways, which included thousands of dollars in gift cards, technological items and plane tickets.
Ellen recently sent Jeanie over to their apartment, made them dress up and appear on the show, where Ellen praised them for their kind spirit. She said, “No matter what you’re struggling with, no matter how you’re living paycheck to paycheck, you still want to pay it forward, you still help others.”
She added, “You’re here because we’re gonna do something big that we’ve never done for any family ever. It’s the biggest thing we’ve ever done…so, you like Cheerios?” Ellen then proceeded to give the family the giant gift of $500,000, saying, “That is gonna take care of a lot. It’s gonna take care of your debt, it is gonna take care of college for your kids. You’re in a two-bedroom apartment, you can buy a house now.”
Furthermore, she tacked another $500,000 for the family to pass out to others in need and brought their entire family onstage to celebrate with the family.
