Among countless others, Selena Gomez is upset about Demi Lovato’s drug overdose and is praying for the singer’s quick recovery. Demi Lovato was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday after suffering from a heroin overdose.
As reported by TMZ, Demi Lovato was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center from her Hollywood Hills home around noon. She is currently being treated and is said to be ‘stable’, though her exact condition is unknown. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed, without naming Demi, “LAPD and LAFD responded to a medical emergency at the 8000 block of Laurel View Dr. at 11:40 a.m.”
While Selena Gomez did not publicly share support for her former best friend, she did confide in a friend. A source told E! News, “When Selena found out the news about Demi, she was very upset and emotional.”
“[Selena and Demi] haven’t been close friends in a while now but they always shared a special bond and they still have love for one another,” the source added, while also informing that Selena is there for Demi’s family during this time. The source confirmed, “Selena has reached out to Demi’s family members to share her love and prayers, and she is really distraught about her health. She hates that Demi has been suffering.”
This is not the first time Demi has struggled with addiction. In the past, the 25-year-old has struggled with substance abuse, an eating disorder and mental illness. In 2011, she went to rehab to seek treatment for bipolar disorder, bulimia, self-harm and addiction. She relapsed after leaving the facility, and then had to go to a sober living facility for a year. Now, she had been sober for 6 years before the unfortunate relapse that led to an overdose.
She recently revealed her relapse in her new song, Sober. Demi sang:
“Mama, I’m so sorry I’m not sober anymore
And daddy please forgive me for the drinks spilled on the floor.
And I’m sorry for the fans I lost who watched me fall again
I wanna be a role model, but I’m only human.”
She then heartbreakingly sings:
“I’m sorry that I’m here again
I promise I’ll get help
It wasn’t my intention
I’m sorry to myself.”
Several celebrities have been sharing their support for Lovato, wishing her a quick recovery and stressing on how she is a good person who deserves better in life. They took to Twitter to express their thoughts.
Fans are also wishing Demi a quick and full recovery.
