‘Humiliated’ Wizards of Waverly Place star David Henrie was caught with a loaded gun at the Los Angeles Airport on Monday morning.
The Los Angeles International Airport office confirmed to E! that Henrie was arrested at 9:05 a.m. for the possession of a loaded handgun at Terminal 2. He was booked into the LAX Pacific Division Jail and will be released at his own recognizance.
TMZ revealed that Henrie was caught at a TSA screening when his secretly kept gun, a M&P Shield 9mm pistol, was discovered. Henrie was detained and taken to the Los Angeles station.
Henrie also commented on the situation just hours after the news was first revealed, taking full responsibility for his mistake. He revealed that although the gun was legally owned, he should not have brought it into an airport. He also thanked law enforcement for their support and professionalism during this time.
His full statement said:
“I take responsibility for the situation at LAX today. I unintentionally bought my legally owned gun which is registered in my name to the airport. I am so sorry for any trouble it caused, but I am appreciative of TSA’s efforts in implementing the safety laws that are in place to protect our beautiful country. More than anything I am humiliated and embarrassed that this even happened. But am thankful to the TSA, LAPD and all involved today for their kindness and their professionalism during this process.”
Henrie and wife Maria Cahill recently revealed that he is expecting his first child together.
