According to their website, the Global Citizen Festival is “a movement of engaged citizens who are using their collective voice to end extreme poverty by 2030. On our platform, Global Citizens learn about the systemic causes of extreme poverty, take action on those issues, and earn rewards for their actions — as part of a global community committed to lasting change.”
In this year’s festival, Dakota Johnson stood onstage at the event in New York City and gave out her phone number to the crowd, telling them to call her and tell her their stories about sexual assault.
She said, “I want to help you—women and girls around the world—tell your story. This is my phone number. I want you to call me and tell me your story in a voicemail. Or I want you to send me a message at [email protected] and tell me what you’ve gone through as a women or girl in the world that’s been suffering.”

Johnson added, “If we don’t speak the same language, that’s okay. We have a team for that. We’ll translate it. And if you’re going to threaten to hurt me, we have a team for that too.”
Her number is 212-653-8806, and the message recording upon calling says, “This is Dakota Johnson please leave a voice mail after the tone and I will record and share your story so we can live in a world where she is equal. Thank you.”
During her speech, Johnson told the crowd that she wanted to “compile these stories and get them heard so I can amplify your voice. Together, we can achieve a world where she is equal.”

After Johnson’s speech, a scary incident happened when a fence barrier collapsed. Johnson’s rumored boyfriend Chris Martin calmed down the crowds by letting them know, “What happened is a barrier fell down. Of course it caused people to frightened, but nobody is trying to hurt anybody.”
He also called the NYPD Assistant Chief Kathleen O’Reilly to confirm what he had said.
She also said, “Everyone relax, calm down. It was a barrier collapse. There were no shots fired.”

Martin then joked, “”If you want to come back and you’re not too frightened by Hugh Jackman’s huge muscles and you wanna come back, this is the time. Slowly, gently, kindly to each other.”
The NYPD also tweeted out some news about the issue, reassuring followers that all was well.
