Chance the Rapper is engaged to long time girlfriend, Kirsten Corley. He asked her at his Fourth of July party on Wednesday.
In a video shared online, Chance is seen getting down on his knee to ask his fiance, “Kirsten Katrina Corley, will you make me a man and be my wife?” The couple’s two year old daughter Kensli came over to join the celebrations as soon as Kirsten said yes.
Chance announced the news on Twitter himself.
Chance’s brother Taylor Bennett also took to Twitter to congratulate the couple.
Chance and Kirsten have been together since 2013. The couple broke up after the birth of Kensli in 2016, and Kirsten filed papers to become the ‘sore caretaker’ of her daughter, also demanding that Chance pay child support. While they were attending court to decide on child support, a lawyer for Corley said, “This case ended quickly because of the unusually high level of cooperation between the parents putting their child’s best interest first.” They got back together in 2017 and Kirsten withdrew the filing.
Chance thanked Kirsten and his daughter during his acceptance speech at the Grammy’s in February 2017, saying, “I wanna thank God for my mother and my father who’ve supported me since I was young. For Kirsten and Kensli, for all of Chicago.”
The 25 year old rapper also wrote a sweet post for Kirsten on Instagram for her birthday on May 31 this year, saying, “From the beginning beginning to the end end. You are my oldest and best friend. You are responsible for everyone of the most wonderful things in my life. I’m forever grateful that God made me find you, and even more grateful that you made me find God. Forever and ever babe. Happy Birthday.”
Chance the Rapper’s third mixtape, Coloring Book, was released in 2016.
