Yesterday, Demi Lovato broke her silence on social media two weeks after suffering from a drug overdose. Since then, she has been at the receiving end of warm wishes and love from fans and friends alike.
Demi posted a detailed message on her Instagram, transparently telling fans what she had been through, while thanking everyone for supporting her during this time.
“I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction. What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet,” she wrote.
Fans as well as her famous friends were quick to extend support to Demi in response to this statement. Amongst many who did, Paris Hilton, Jennifer Lopez, Hailey Baldwin, Macklemore, Tove Lo and Noah Cyrus were the firsts to send sweet notes her way.
Paris Hilton wrote, “Love you so much sis” on Twitter, and J.Lo expressed her warm feelings towards Demi by saying, “Oh baby…sending you love.” Meanwhile, Hailey Baldwin expressed her support of Demi by sending her several heart emojis.
Apart from the love shown by these ladies, the artist Macklemore recently dedicated his song “Otherside” to Demi at one of his concert on the 25th of July. He later commented on her Instagram post to show more support and love for the singer.
Several others took to the comment section to support her.
Demi, too, has shown her gratitude for her friends and fans. She thanked god for keeping her ‘alive and well’, and thanked her fans by stating that their ‘positive thoughts and prayers’ helped her ‘navigate through this difficult time’.
She further extended her gratitude towards her family and the team of medical staff assigned to her at Cedars-Senai, by saying, “Without them I wouldn’t be here writing this letter to all of you.”
Demi ended her gratitude on an optimistic note:
“I now need time to heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery. The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side. I will keep fighting.”
