Demi Moore, Bruce Willis’s ex-wife, made a surprise appearance at his Comedy Central roast in LA on Friday, proving that the ex-couple are still great friends.
Willis and Moore met at the premier for the film Stakeout. They got married in 1987 and three children together: daughters Rumer, Scout and Tallulah. In 1998, the couple announced their separation and filed for divorce in 2000. Their divorce was finalized the same day it was filed. Over the years, not only have Willis and Moore remained friends, but Willis also attended Moore’s wedding to Ashton Kutcher, her third husband. Willis has also remained close to Kutcher. When Willis married model Emma Heming in 2009, the guests included his three daughters, Moore and Kutcher.
On Friday, the 55-year-old actress made a surprise appearance at Willis’ Comedy Central roast in a sparkly black dress. Moore and Willis’ three kids were also in the audience to support their father.
During the roast, Moore said, “I look at our marriage like The Sixth Sense. You were dead the whole time.” She also made a quip about being responsible for the success of the Die Hard movies, saying, “I was married to Bruce for the first three Die Hard movies, which makes sense because the last two sucked.”
She added, “People wonder why our marriage came to an end, and in all honesty I think it was because some jealousy started to creep in. I think Bruce never really got over the fact that I rocked the bald look better than he did. Bruce considered the end of our marriage his biggest failure. Bruce, don’t be so hard on yourself, you had much bigger failures. Planet Hollywood, Hudson Hawk…campaigning for Michael Dukakis, turning down Clooney’s role in Ocean’s Elevento focus on playing the harmonica.”
Even though Moore cracked plenty of jokes at her ex-husband’s expense, the two shared a warm hug towards the end of the roast. She also jokingly credited him as being “easily one of my top three husbands.” Speaking to Vanity Fair in 2005, Willis said about Moore, “It’s hard for people to understand, but we go on holidays together. We still raise our kids together – we still have that bond. Demi is the mother of my children.”
Willis was introduced at the roast by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who said that Willis is “what you get if you drain the white part of Dwayne Johnson.” He also said, “Bruce can play anyone from an a**hole cop to an a**hole ex-cop.”
Other panelists at the roast included Edward Norton, Martha Stewart and Dennis Rodman.
