Ariana Grande has finally acknowledged the death of her ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller. The 26-year-old rapper was found dead in his home from an overdose on Friday.
The picture seems to have been captured by Ariana standing over Miller as he sits on the ground; a pair of white sneakers of the photographer can be seen.
Grande did not write a caption, and turned the comments off on her post. This can be explained by the hateful comments she has been getting on previous posts. In wake of the bullying, her fiance Pete Davidson has also cleared his Instagram of all photos.
She has been facing intense criticism online since Miller’s passing, with many claiming she is responsible for his overdose. Mac’s fans say her breaking up with him and getting engaged just a few weeks later exacerbated his addiction issue.
Mac, 26, was found dead in his San Fernando Valley home around noon, and was pronounced dead on the spot, as detailed by TMZ. It was also said that a friend of the late Miller called 911, which prompted authorities to arrive at the scene.
This was not Mac Miller’s first stint with drugs. He has battled addiction before, something that seemed to have come up again since his break up with Ariana Grande a few months ago.
In May, Mac was also arrested for drunk driving. At the time, he was involved in DUI as well as a hit-and-run. Authorities intercepted him at his San Fernando Valley home later that day and arrested him, as reported by PEOPLE. This was one week after the rapper broke up with longtime girlfriend Ariana.
Miller later said about his arrest, “I made a stupid mistake. I’m a human being.”
“But it was the best thing that could have happened. Best thing that could have happened. I needed that. I needed to run into that light pole and literally have the whole thing stop,” he added, while also assuring his fans he was fine and that they did not need to worry.
While Mac said he was happy about Ariana’s engagement to Pete Davidson, fans were worried about him.
The rapper opened up while talking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music. He said:
“Life is stressful. You know what I mean so of course there were stressful times. It’s not that unique. You know like I was in love with somebody. We were together for two years. We worked through good times, bad times, stress, and everything else. And then it came to an end and we both moved on. And it’s that simple you know. And like I haven’t been on the internet. So you know people have assumed that I’m you know like, ‘Are you OK. Is everything OK?‘”
Lowe also asked Miller why he stopped going online and deleted his social media. Miller said it was not to outrun news about his ex-girlfriend, but to focus on his upcoming music. He said, “Because I was about to drop the album. And also like I don’t know it just all seemed kind of like unimportant you know like like the need to show people I was OK. Like what is that? Where does that come from? Why? Why do we have this need to use social media and the internet?”
Miller also made sure to emphasize that despite contradictory rumors, him and Grande have nothing but positive vibes for each other, saying “I am happy for her and moving forward with her life just as I’m sure she is with me.”
The couple apparently split up because of conflicting schedules becoming too great of a burden. At the time, Ariana took to Instagram to talk about the split and reassure fans that it was amicable, and that she had nothing but love and respect for her ex-boyfriend. She also talked about what unconditional love meant to her.
No further details about Mac Miller’s death are available yet.
