Anna Kendrick appeared on The DeGeneres show on Thursday, where she showed off her rapping skills, took over Ellen’s Twitter account, and also admitted to lying to her ‘Pitch Perfect’ cast to get out of her birthday plans.
Anna Kendrick appeared on the show to promote her new film A Simple Favor, and in pursuit of promoting other talents of Kendrick, apart from acting, DeGeneres asked her to rap for her like Anna did in the movie.
The 33-year-old actor and singer tried to resist the request, while simultaneously enjoying her brief takeover of Ellen’s Twitter, but eventually complied.
“Remember when you’re in the movie in the car and then you have that amazing rap song that you do?” asked Ellen.
“It’s so embarrassing,” Kendrick responded. “I was really feeling the rap. I say that you have to have respect for the streets, which is how I try to live my life.”
She performed a perfectly memorized version of M.O.P’s “Ante Up,” and left the audience impressed and entertained.

This is not the first time Anna has taken on the challenge of rapping, as she has also performed the song, “No Diggity”, which she rapped to in the opening of Pitch Perfect, midst a riff-off battle.
Kendrick not only rapped on the show, but also admitted to lying to her Pitch Perfect cast to get out of her birthday plans.
While talking to Ellen, Anna also confessed to deliberately pulling out of a plan on her birthday on 9th of August. She said, “I did nothing. I’m one of those people that hates my birthday because I hate attention. No… I don’t know why.”
“All the girls from ‘Pitch Perfect’ always try to get me to do something with them… I actually told them, ‘I’m in Vancouver visiting a friend.’ Now they know I wasn’t,” Anna confessed.
