The first film Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure was released in 1989, while the second of the series, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey was released in 1991.

Both films were an instant box office success, making more than $78.5 million in total. Soon after the release of the films a cartoon television show and a Nintendo game was released.

But fans were not satisfied and wanted more of the Bill and Ted series.

In 2010, Keanu Reeves indicated that writers of the series, Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, are working on a script for the third edition of Bill and Ted. Ever since then more and more rumors and stories were coming forward but nothing was officially confirmed.

But in this recent interview, the news was finally confirmed. The script of the third edition as well as the title, ‘Bill & Ted: Face The Music’, have been decided.

While talking about the series Reeves said, “Chris and Ed came to us in 2007 with the idea of doing it. They pitched us an idea. It sounded great. In show business, there’s show and then there’s business.”

The writer of the series, Ed Solomon, also talked about the upcoming film and said, “We are hoping to close a deal with some financiers. Hopefully, within the next month or so, we’ll have news that will stick.”

Alex Winter said that this film series has an independent spirit, “The whole trajectory of getting the next one off the ground has been pretty much exactly like the experience of getting the original. Going to every studio, and they’re like, ‘what the eff is this?’ It’s this kind of independent spirit, and the films have an anachronistic quality to them that’s a big part of what they are, fundamentally.”

He continued, “I’m really happy that this one is the same. It doesn’t feel like some stale knockoff that a studio would have immediately gone, ‘oh, this feels right. We have rebranded very successfully’.”

Chris Matheson did not reveal exactly what ‘Bill & Ted: Face The Music’ will be about but while giving a few hints he said, “You’re told you’re gonna save the world. And now you’re 50 and you haven’t done it. Now they’re married, and it affects their marriages, and it affects their relationships with their kids, and it affects their everything.”

Reeves and Winter added, “Everybody’s a little older now. There are certain comparisons, a rock band that never goes to the place it thought it was going to get to. Having that moment in their life of going: ‘Do we try to get there, or give up the dream?'”

The interview revealed that Steven Soderbergh will be producing the movie and Dean Parisot will take the Director’s chair.

Bill Sadler will also be coming back to the series as ‘Death‘.

The only thing that is left is the financing and fans are hoping that they get the financing as quickly as possible, so that Bill and Ted series can return!
