The Weinstein effect has taken Hollywood by a storm! Victims of sexual misconduct are finally speaking up against their perpetrators. The most recent story to break involves the beloved, Mr. James Franco.
Five women have come out with stories alleging Franco of sexual misconduct!
James Franco is a talented and celebrated artist. And the phenomenal actor just won a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for his project The Disaster Artist.
But while his career is blooming, Franco is facing recent allegations of sexual misconduct by women who have been a part of his life.
One of these women is his ex-girlfriend, Violet Paley. Violet is 23 years old and according to her accusations, Franco forced her to perform oral sex on him.
Franco and Paley met in 2016. He was helping her out with a script and the two eventually started dating.
According to The Los Angeles Times, Paley recalled, “I was talking to him, all of a sudden his pen*s was out. I got really nervous and said, ‘Can we do this later?’ He was kind of nudging my head down, and I just didn’t want him to hate me, so I did it.”
Four days ago Violet also tweeted about the incident stating, “Cute #TIMESUP pin James Franco. Remember the time you pushed my head down in a car towards your exposed pen*s & that other time you told my friend to come to your hotel when she was 17? After you had already been caught doing that to a different 17-year-old?”
Violet also recently Tweeted, “A couple of weeks ago, James offered me & a few other girls an overdue, annoyed, convenient phone ‘apology’. I don’t accept, but maybe some other people’s lives would be made easier if he donated all of his earnings from ‘The Disaster Artist’ to RAINN01.”
However, some people are having doubts about her story and a few of them even called her a liar.
One tweet said, “I worked with James Franco on the set of I Am Michael while filming on Long Island NY. He was nothing but an absolute gentleman to everyone around him. These allegations are so ridiculous and will not give other real victims the chance to speak up. @VioletPaley is a liar.”
Another tweet said, “Because she’s a liar and trying to get famous this way. She couldn’t make in the film business so she’s trying to see what she’ll get by lying and making up stories. Pathetic @VioletPaley.”
However, a woman did believe Violet’s story and came to her rescue. Her name is Sarah Tither-Kaplan and she too claims to be a victim of sexual misconduct displayed by James Franco.
Kaplan was a student at Studio 4, which was an acting school opened by Franco. Kaplan claimed that she was part of a nude orgy scene on one of Franco’s projects. However, while shooting, Franco took off the genital guard from the women’s vaginas and performed oral sex on them.
Kaplan supported Violet Paley by tweeting, “Let it be known that @VioletPaley is a queen. I stan.”
Kaplan’s claims also include Franco only calling back those women who were willing to do topless and nude scenes for his project and rejecting the ones who refused to do it.
She also addressed her tweets towards James Franco and stated, “Hey James Franco, nice #timesup pin at the #GoldenGlobes, remember a few weeks ago when you told me the full nudity you had me do in two of your movies for $100/day wasn’t exploitative because I signed a contract to do it? Times up on that!”
She also said, “Hey James Franco, now that you have a Golden Globe why don’t you give speaking roles that don’t require nudity in your upcoming films to the dozens of women who have done full nudity + sex scenes in your indie films and art projects?”
Franco’s lawyer has dismissed the allegations against him. James also spoke about the allegations against him in an interview with Stephen Colbert.
He said, “In my life, I pride myself in taking responsibility for things that I have done. I have to do that to maintain my well-being. I do it whenever I know that there is something wrong or needs to be changed, I make it a point to do it.”
“Things that I heard are on Twitter, are not accurate but I completely support people coming out and being able to have a voice because they didn’t have a voice for so long, so I don’t want to shut them down in any way. I think it’s a good thing and I support it.”
He added, “If there is restitution to be made I will make it. So if I’ve done something wrong I will fix it, I have to. Umm, I mean I think that’s how it works, I don’t know what else to do.”
Pursuant to these allegations James Franco also did not show up to the Critics Choice Awards 2018 even though he won an award. He won the best actor in a comedy film for The Disaster Artist.
