Harry Styles got smashing reviews for his performance in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk, but who would’ve thought the 23-year-old heartthrob could be the next James Bond?!
A 007 bigshot has revealed that Harry might become the youngest Bond in the history of the movie series!
As James Bond director, Sam Mendes, backs off from the movies, Christopher Nolan is now the rumored frontrunner. As he prepares for taking on the next set of the Bond films, his colleague and popular film editor, Lee Smith, has revealed that Harry has a chance to be cast as James Bond, in 2022!
“Harry could do it,” Lee Smith said in a statement to Daily Star.
“If they wanted a younger Bond then why not? He has got it.”
Smith went on to describe Harry as ‘charismatic’ and ‘talented’, and expressed his confidence that Harry really could make it through!
“Harry is really good and he can go all the way. He is an exceptional talent and a complete natural on camera,” Smith said confidently.
He went on talking about Harry’s brilliant work in Dunkirk; “You would have thought you were dealing with a guy with many years of experience. You would never know that was his first film. I didn’t know who Harry was.”
The editor further added that Harry wasn’t just an insanely popular singer starring in his first film and thus automatically successful, but that he was genuinely ‘good’ at what he did.
“Of course my daughter explained to me that you don’t get any more famous than Harry Styles. But he was really good and a genuinely charismatic fellow,” he added.
There is no denying that the much coveted character of James Bond has always been played by older, maturer actors. For the next Bond film, the 49-year-old current 007, Daniel Craig, has signed up for the role.
However, Craig has previously been rather vocal about his dislike regarding the role.
Craig went so far as saying he would rather slit his wrists than play another 007 character! The actor added that not only is the character physically straining, but it requires him to spend long periods of time away from his family – something he is not ready for.
With Daniel Craig’s outright hatred for playing the bond roles, one thing we can say for near surety is that the next Bond film will be his last. This means that he will need to be replaced in the 2022 film, and his replacement could very well be Harry Styles!
Let us also note that Harry Styles will be 28 years old in 2022, and while he will be maturer and perhaps more suited for the role than he might be right now, he will still be the youngest Bond in history!
“If he wants to act, I cannot imagine he would not have a great future,” Lee Smith stated regarding Harry’s acting career.
As for Harry Styles himself, however, it looks like he is not too keen on continuing acting. The singing sensation has clearly said in the past that Dunkirk might have been his only movie.
“I feel very lucky to be a part of Dunkirk. I’d do this one again but it may be one and done – I’d do this one again,” Harry said.
“I really enjoyed this. I’ve peaked too soon! There’s nowhere to go,” he continued.
While Harry has not commented on Smith’s statement as yet, fans have gone into a frenzy and already can’t wait to see the heartthrob as the tuxedoed James Bond!
We do hope Harry Styles decides to continue his acting career!
