The Child Who Played Young Snape in Harry Potter Is All Grown Up and Is Almost Unrecognizable!

Benedict Clarke, the guy who played young Snape in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, has taken all of us by surprise with his recent photos.

Severus Snape, the half-blood prince, was the one character that everyone despised until ‘HPDH’ part 2 was released. It was that throwback to Snape’s childhood that changed the entire outlook of his character. It made us realize that he was, after all, as Harry said, ‘One of the bravest men’ we knew.

Benedict Clarke is a British actor who auditioned for the role of young Snape when he was only 15 years old. Those innocent looks made us fall in love with Snape and had us all rooting for Snape and Lily.

Benedict is 21 years old now and has grown into quite a handsome man. He is an occasional actor but is currently focused to complete his education from Cambridge University.

The handsome bloke is mostly seen hiking and traveling, according to his Instagram account. He has also developed a keen interest in brewery tasting.

The role of adult Snape was played by late Alan Rickman, who will be remembered for his breathtaking performance forever.

The scene where Harry pours the memories of Snape into the pensieve is the one where the real role of Severus is revealed. The entire scene revolves around the younger version of Severus Snape played by Benedict Clarke. Not only did it leave Harry in complete shock, but also made fans go through emotional trauma.

Benedict is remembered and loved by Harry Potter fans all around the world because of the reality of his character. He portrayed young Snape to be the real hero at the end of the day.

He grew up to protect Harry from all that was evil and even gave his life for him. His childhood showed us all what true love means in absolute reality.

In a Tumblr Q & A, Bendict was asked how he ended up with the role and what made the directors choose him. He answered the question by saying that they might’ve picked him for his ‘awkwardness’.

Bendict said, “I guess they just liked my awkwardness. Haha.”

He also said that he originally wanted to audition for the role of both young James and Snape. However, he was then told to re-audition in front of David Yates for the role of Junior Snape.

While talking about his audition Clarke said, “At the first audition, I was going for either young Snape or young James. It wasn’t until I was recalled to audition in front of David Yates at Leavesden that I was told I’d be auditioning for the role of young Snape.”

He continued to say that he was a ‘Harry Potter nerd’ and a huge fan of the books and movies.

Benedict further said, “And being a Harry Potter nerd, my description of Snape’s character was pretty good. My acting on the other hand… lol.”

After 2011’s HPDH part 2, Clarke appeared in several short films like ‘Andy’s’ and ‘In the Wake of Sirens’. However, for now, he has taken a break from acting and aims to get over with his studies first.
