Ed Sheeran, the famous British star, was booed as he won the Grammy Award for the Best Pop Solo Performance Song!
He beat his competition as what was an all-female singer nominee Kesha, Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson and Pink.
Ed Sheeran, 26, won the Best Pop Solo Performance for his song Shape of you at the 60th Grammy Awards in the Madison Square Garden of New York City.
Shape of you had given success to Ed Sheeran previously as well. He became the most streamed artist as people absolutely loved to sing along to this song! Apart from that, Ed Sheeran has a massive fan following with over 19.5 million followers on Instagram and 20.4 followers on Twitter.
Ed, himself, wasn’t present at the ceremony on Sunday. In fact, he was asleep during this year’s Grammys and only got hold of the news of his win and the fans reaction after he woke up.
Ed posted a picture of his cat on Instagram with the caption, “Woke up to the news I won two Grammys last night. Thank you”
Jon Batiste, the presenter, accepted the award on Ed’s behalf when his name was announced.
This was nothing compared to the backlash that people on Twitter threw at Ed Sheeran.
GeorgeStark, a fan on Twitter, said, “Seeing those incredible artists lose out to Ed Sheeran just now was the saddest thing #Grammys2018”
LaurenSamis, another fan who was supporting Kesha to win the award, said, “@edsheeran Imma let you finish, but @KeshaRose had one of the best songs of all time #PrayingThatWasAMistake #Grammys2018”
It might seem unfair to throw all this criticism on Ed Sheeran instead of blaming the whole music industry for whatever purposes people feel that the award was given unjustly.
People feel that Kesha should have won the award for her song ‘Praying’, which was about the story of her depression and the sexual assault that she had faced in life.
The Perfect singer was also in news recently when he got engaged to his childhood partner, Cherry Seaborn.
