Ruby Rose and Jessica Origliasso, who have been dating since November 2016, have officially parted ways.
Ruby announced the news via her Instagram story on Sunday, saying, “I’ve shared the past two years learning and sharing my life with an amazing human being. An experience for which I am very blessed.”
“Breakups are always incredibly hard on the people involved but I can only be grateful for the experiences we’ve shared.”
She further added, “It’s with a heavy heart to share that Jess and I parted ways a few months ago. We still love each other and I will always support her and be her biggest advocate. With love x.”
Many fans actually assumed that the announcement was an April Fools Day joke, since it was made on April 1. However, Ruby later clarified that it wasn’t. She said she wouldn’t joke about ‘something so personal’.
Ruby detailed that the two broke up months ago. This struck fans as odd, since Jessica shared a photo of the two on Instagram, on March 3rd.
“A mosquito, my libido,” she captioned it.
Ruby and Jessica met ten years ago, and were rumored to have an on-and-off relationship. They officially started dating in 2016, when they starred in a music video together.
The two appeared together in the video for The Veronicas’ On Your Side.
Fans were devastated at the prospect of Ruby and Jessica breaking up, and many voiced their opinions on the social media profiles of both the stars.
“Heartbroken, Gonna miss seeing you both together. You gave me hope. Wish you all the best x,” one fan commented.
“Please tell me it’s a joke, please tell me you and ruby aren’t broken up, but if it’s true i wish you and @rubyrose strength at a time like this. Also I hope you guys manage to keep your friendship intact. Best wishes to u both,” another said.
“It’s April fools right? Because I don’t think I can live without you two together,” another wrote.
Most fans remained convinced that the whole thing was an April Fools joke, regardless of what Ruby said. They primarily used the picture Jessica posted as proof.
“A few months ago… this was posted last month. Common people. What is todays date?” one fan wrote.
“I want to say that it’s a April Fools joke because Ruby said “a couple of months ago” yet the last picture Jess put was on March 2nd…” another pointed out.
“April fools yalllll stop getting your panties in a bunch Jesus,” another one expressed.
However, as it turns out, the couple really has parted ways. We wish them the best of luck on their individual paths.
